Overview

Redefining mineral exploration through AI and digital technologies

The rapid evolution of Artificial Intelligence (AI), machine learning, geospatial analytics, and large-scale digital infrastructure is redefining the future of mineral exploration worldwide. As exploration increasingly becomes data-intensive, there is a growing need to integrate advanced computational approaches with traditional geoscience workflows to enable faster, more accurate, and more sustainable discovery processes.

Recognizing this transformative shift, IIT Bombay is organizing an exclusive one-day workshop titled "Mineral Exploration in the Age of AI" on 29 May 2026. The workshop will convene a carefully curated group of leaders and experts from academia, government agencies, industry, technology organizations, and international institutions to exchange perspectives on the emerging role of AI and digital technologies in the mineral exploration ecosystem.

Designed as a focused forum, the workshop aims to encourage meaningful dialogue, focused interactions, and collaborative thinking among participants working at the intersection of geosciences, exploration technologies, data systems, and artificial intelligence.

Purpose of the Workshop

A platform for informed dialogue and collaboration

The workshop seeks to create a platform for informed discussions on how AI-enabled technologies can support the future of mineral exploration and geoscience decision-making. Through invited talks and collaborative interactions, participants will explore both the opportunities and practical challenges associated with the digital transformation of exploration workflows.

The conference will be available in hybrid mode. Registration is mandatory for all participants because validated registration details will be used for gate-pass creation, physical seating is limited, and the online link will be shared with registered participants. The event also aims to strengthen connections between research institutions, government organizations, industry stakeholders, and technology developers, fostering long-term collaboration in this rapidly evolving domain.
